Rejjie Snow(レジー・スノウ)・本名 Alexander Anyaegbunamは1993年アイルランドの首都ダブリン出身のラッパー。ナイジェリア人の父と、ジャマイカにバックグラウンドを持つ母の間に生まれた彼は、2011年からカレッジ進学のため、アメリカに拠点を移し、本格的に音楽活動をスタート。
そんなアイルランド出身の彼の作品を、世に知らしめたのはYoutubeの投稿によるものでした。ファーストEPの『Rejovich』 や、可愛らしいアニメーションのミュージックビデオが特徴的なシングル『D.R.U.G.S』などが、Youtubeというプラットフォームのメカニズムに押し上げられ、一気に再生回数は数十万・数百万回に到達しています。
彼のラップは、いわゆるBoom-Bap調のもので、落ち着いた低い声に、心地よいゆったりしたサウンドが特徴です。
今回紹介する” Purple Tuesday “は2017年リリースされたミックステープ『The Moon & You』からの一曲。これまたBoom-Bap調のファーストアルバムで一斉を風靡したJoey Bada$$、そしてシカゴ出身のJessy Boykins Ⅲ を迎えた作品ということで、相性バッチリ・バイブスバッチリでございます。プロデュースはチャンス・ザ・ラッパーなども手がけるCam’Obi。
